Moodle college was especially set up to help PRUs meet the government’s e learning strategy and their policy document ‘Harnessing technology: Transforming learning and children’s services’ .

The college is acutely aware of the increasingly prohibitive costs associated with educating such learners within VLEs, (virtual learning environments) and so embarked on creating a low cost online learning environment that PRUs could share. PRUs are faced with costs of around £2500 annually just for hosting their own VLE and then you need to develop meaningful courses and to hire expensive staff or management companies to service and run it.
